Virtual Enneagram Tool Installation FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers

Q1: What does it mean to “install”?
A: Installation provides a shortcut to access your virtual tools, with a special icon on the screen of your desktop, tablet or smartphone and allows you to access the virtual tools when you are offline (not connected to the internet). When you are connected to the internet, you can always access your virtual tool simply by clicking on the link provided after you purchased the tool.

Q2: Do you recommend installation?
A: No, in most cases. We generally don’t suggest installation because installing your virtual tools can be very complicated. Why? Because different devices require different browsers, we only recommend installing if you plan to use your virtual tools without an available internet connection.

Q3: How is installation different than downloading?
A: Installation provides an app – an icon that acts as a shortcut – on your device that allows easy launching of the virtual tools plus offline access. Downloading, by contrast, would allow you to store the entire virtual tool on your device so that you can share the item with others. With the virtual tools, you can install each tool on up to three devices as part of the terms of service, but downloading is not an available option.

Q4: How do I install the virtual tools on an Apple Computer?
A: Mac computers can only install the virtual tools if you are using the Chrome browser. Open the Chrome browser and enter the provided virtual tool link address. If Chrome is your default browser, all you need to do is click on the link. Once you open the virtual tool, tap the “install” button in the tool’s navigation bar options found on the top right on your computer screen. You’ll be prompted to install the tool. Once installed, the virtual tool will go to your download location, (such as the bottom of your screen, your download folder, or your Chrome Apps folder) and you can move it to your desktop or location of your choice. You cannot install the virtual tools to an Apple computer from any browser other than Chrome.

Q5: How do I install on an Apple tablet or smartphone?
A: This is very similar to installing on a Mac computer (see above), but instead of requiring the Chrome browser, you are required to use the Safari browser for installation. Open the Safari browser and enter the provided virtual tool link address. If Safari is your default browser, all you need to do is click on the link. Once the virtual tool is open, tap the “install” button in the tool’s navigation bar options found on the bottom right menu made up of three dots. You’ll be prompted to install the tool by clicking on the “share” icon* (picture of a square with the arrow pointing up) found in the gray bar at the very bottom of your screen and then the “add to home screen” menu item (icon of a square with a plus sign inside) that appears after clicking on the share icon. “Add to Home Screen” is the sixth item down from the top of the list on that page. The virtual tool icon will now appear on your home screen. You cannot install the virtual tools to an Apple tablet or smartphone from any browser other than Safari. *Note: clicking on the “share” icon doesn’t enable you to share the virtual tool with other people; it means sharing it to your own device.

Q6: How do I install on a Windows-based computer (also called a PC) or tablet?
A: When on a Windows PC, you can install your virtual tools from Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge browsers, but not Explorer, Safari, and Firefox browsers. Open one of the approved browsers and enter the provided virtual tool link address. If Chrome or Microsoft Edge is your default browser, clicking on the link is all you need to do. Once the virtual tool is open, tap the “install” button in the tool’s navigation bar found on the top right of your computer screen. You’ll be prompted to install the tool. Once installed, you’ll find the icon on your computer desktop.

Q7: How do I install on an Android smartphone?
A: Android smartphones can only install if you are using the Chrome browser. If Chrome is your default browser, all you need to do is click on the link. After opening the virtual tool from Chrome, tap the “install” button in the tool’s navigation bar found on the bottom right menu made up of three dots. You’ll then be prompted to install the tool. Once installed, you’ll find it on the home screen of your smartphone.

Q8: Can I install the Full Virtual Tool Set?
A: Yes and no. Installation for the Full Virtual Tool Set is not available for Apple Computers, but it is available for Apple tablets and smartphones. Installation for the Full Virtual Tool Set is available for all Windows-based devices. This includes Windows-based computers, tablets, and smartphones. However, we don’t recommend installation of the Full Virtual Tool Set on Apple or Windows. Why? Whether you are Apple-based or Windows-based, you still have to install each tool separately if you want to access it without internet connection.

Q9: How do I install the Full Virtual Tool Set?
A: Please reference the browser requirements above: Question 5 for Apple tablets and smartphones and Question 6 and 7 for all Windows-based devices. To install the Full Virtual Tool Set, open the Full Virtual Tool Set from the link provided after purchase. Tap the install button in the tool’s navigation bar which can be found on the top right on the computer and mobile devices. The icon that appears is unique to the Full Virtual Tool Set. It shows a computer and phone next to each other and the word “install as app” will appear when you hover over this icon. Follow the installation prompts.
